Εκδηλώσεις 2019 – Anniversary Celebrations 2019

This year’s 35th Anniversary Celebrations were another success for Thessaloniki Association “The White Tower”.

Here we have a number of photographs that show off our individual functions, starting from the two Melbourne doctors, Dr George Iatropoulos and Dr Jordan Psomopoulos who have given us a wonderful lecture on Prevention of Colon Cancer and the Mediterranean Diet. The function took place at Ladadika (Thessaloniki Association) 439 High Street, Northcote, on Sunday 17th Nov 2019.

Another success was the Gala Dinner where about 400 people attended including the President of the Federation of Pan-Macedonian Associations Mr George Kosmidis, all the way from Brisbane, Mr Dimitrios Michalopoulos, Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Mr Bill Papastergiadis, President of the Greek Community of Melbourne Mr Andreas Balis, President Pan-Macedonia Association of Melbourne and other VIPs. The function took place at 1C Bell Street Preston on Saturday 23rd Nov 2019.

The highlight of the events each year is the Anniversary Festival which marked the 35th Year of relationship between Thessaloniki and Melbourne. The event was again a success, being held for the first time at Queen Victoria Market, on Sunday 24th Nov 2019. Present were the Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Melbourne Cr Sally Capp, Mr George Kosmidis, Viv Nguyen Chairperson of Victorian Multicultural Commission, Mr Steve Dimopoulos MP, representing the Premier, Mr Andreas Balis, President Pan-Macedonia Association of Melbourne and other VIPs.

The program included dancing from a large number of Greek dancing groups in Melbourne, Greek food, Yiros, Greek Coffee, Bougatsa etc. Delphi Bank (one of our main sponsors again this year) had a stage competition and people won monetary prizes. We always appreciate the contribution our sponsors make each year.
