SUMMARY:Liberation of Thessaloniki 1912
DESCRIPTION:Thessaloniki has been liberated by the Greek army in 1912. The
 commander of the 8th Turkish army corps\, Hasan Tahsin Pasha\, signed the
 protocol officially surrendering Thessaloniki to the advancing Greek Army.
 We will visit historical facts on the day\, show a short film about the
 event and provide light refreshments to those present. Limited seats are
 available and we ask anyone who wish to attend to RSVP below by Sunday\,
 October 22nd \, or call Paul on 0418 353 086 to get availability
 confirmation.\n\nThe function will be held at the Greek Community venue\,
 Mezzanine hall.\n\n\n\nΗ Ένωση Θεσσαλονικέων
 διοργανώνει εκδήλωση προς τιμή της
 απελευθέρωσης της Θεσσαλονίκης το 1912. Ο
 Τούρκος στρατηγός του 8ου τάγματος
 στρατού Χασάν Ταχσίν Πασάς υπέγραψε τότε
 το πρωτόκολλο παράδοσης της πόλης στον
 Ελληνικό στρατό. Την ημέρα της εκδήλωσης
 θα αναφερθούμε στα γεγονότα της
 απελευθέρωσης\, θα προβάλλουμε σχετική
 ταινία και θα προσφέρουμε ελαφρύ φαγητό
 στους παρευρισκομένους. Παρακαλούμε
 ειδοποιήστε μας αν θέλετε να
 παρευρεθείτε συμπληρώνοντας τα στοιχεία
 σας πιο κάτω\, γιατί υπάρχει
 περιορισμένος αριθμός θέσεων.\nThessaloniki
 1922\nAsia Minor Hellenes that reached Thessaloniki in 1922 were in their
 hundreds of thousands. Thessaloniki was only 10 years old since the
 liberation of the city from the oppressor. Yet\, not only the refugees were
 welcomed and reached a place where they could safely continue their lives\,
 but also flourished as they made this place their home.\n\nLet us celebrate
 this event. Let us give praise to Thessaloniki which has always been a
 welcoming city to any refugee\,\n\n 	Including the Jews who were expelled
 from Spain by the Franco regime in the 14th century.\n 	Including the
 Armenians who suffered the same fate at the hands of Ottomans in
 1922-1923.\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;
