Thessaloniki Association “The White Tower” in conjunction with the Commemorative Council for the Battle of Crete is holding a commemorative event on Sunday 6th November 2017, at 6:00pm and at the Greek Orthodox Community Centre, 168 Lonsdale Street Melbourne. The program of the event is in recognition of the liberation of Thessaloniki from the German occupation on the 30th October 1944, and to specifically acknowledge the role of the Danish Allied soldier Major Anders Lassen, VC MC and 2 Bars. The event will encompass an award to Melbourne’s Danish community and will have as its main speak the Historian & Writer Jim Claven.
