Meeting the new Consul General

Representatives from the Thessaloniki Association “The White Tower” committee visited the new Consul General of Greece to Melbourne and Victoria, Mr Dimitrios Michalopoulos today Wednesday 17th Jan 2018. Mr Paul Mavroudis OAM and Mr Iakovos Garivaldis OAM were greeted by the Consul General himself who arrived only recently to replace Mrs C. Simantiraki, the person who was respected by the whole of the Melbourne community.

After the initial greetings what was discussed were topics about the current issues faced by our beloved Greece, with the main point of discussion being the important issue of the naming of Greece’s northern neighbor in view of the discussions that started today in the USA. Meeting the Municipality of Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki Association was represented at a very important meeting in the offices of the Municipality of the City of Thessaloniki, on July 14th, 2017, by the President Mr Paul Mavroudis and the Vice-President Mr Iakovos Garivaldis.

The meeting was also attended by Steve Dimopoulos MP (member for Oakleigh, Chair of the Mental Health Expert Taskforce and is a member of the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee), Nick Staikos MP (Member for Bentleigh), John Pandazopoulos, past Minister of Victoria, Judith Graley MP Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Training and Ros Spence MP Parliamentary Secretary for Public Transport. Meeting the Danish Consul General

Today, 19th April 2017, Thessaloniki Association “The White Tower” represented by Mr Iakovos Garivaldis OAM, Vice-President of the Association along with Mr Tony Tsourdalakis, Secretary of Commemorative Council of the “Battle of Crete” and Mr Jim Claven, Secretary of Lemnos Gallipoli Commemorative Committee and historian, visited the Denmark House in Little Bourke Street Melbourne and met the Honorary Consul General of Denmark Mr Jan Ravnholt.
