I never considered that our ancient ancestors were “softies” (or “gullible”)—to use Homer’s expression—so as to use only syllables for the written word of the divine Olympic Greek language. To have and to use syllables, one must first have and know the phonemes (vowels/sounds); therefore, what is the purpose of syllabic writing?
