A Call to Action for Asia Minor Descendants
The story of our ancestors from the East—those who endured the devastation of Greek and Christian communities in Asia Minor about 100 years ago—must never fade into obscurity. Their struggles, sacrifices, and resilience shaped who we are today, and it is our duty to honor their memory by uniting as descendants of Asia Minor. By forming a dedicated group, we can create a space where history is remembered, voices are heard, and future generations are educated on the tragedies that shaped our people. Through gatherings, commemorative events, and educational initiatives, we will strengthen our cultural identity while ensuring the truth of these events remains intact for generations to come.
Now is the time to step forward and make a difference. Let’s organize, share knowledge, and honor our ancestors with dignity and purpose. Whether through historical lectures, film screenings, exhibitions, or advocacy efforts, we will stand as a living testament to their endurance and the vibrant legacy they left behind and ensure their memory is transferred to our children and grandchildren. By joining together, we build a community rooted in remembrance, solidarity, and the unshakable determination to protect our heritage. If you share this mission, let’s connect and forge a movement that ensures their voices are never silenced.
We are not seeking to form a new organisation, but to work with and co-operate with existing community organisations under the auspices of the Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne and supported by Thessaloniki Association “The White Tower”. Please share with those who you may think will be able to also contribute and register.
