In 1922, the small village of Neochori in the region of Kallipolis, with the sea stretching out in front and the mountains protecting it from behind, experienced a great change. There lived the Mylonas family, a well-established household in the local community.
My grandfather’s family, on my mother’s side, was from the village of Krithia in Gallipoli, Eastern Thrace. They were a four-member family. My great-grandmother’s surname was Myropoulou, her first name was Xanthi, and she had siblings in America.
