The Jews of Thessaloniki

It is an important subject matter for Thessaloniki because the Jews traditionally have been living in large numbers in this city of Macedonia. In the early 19th Century there were about 51 thousand Jews living in Thessaloniki. This meant that one in every sixth of its citizens was a Jew by descend. The Jewish Museum and a number of Jewish buildings still remain intact today. The history of Jews in Thessaloniki was presented by Mr Dean Kalymniou on the 10th November 2013 at the clubrooms of Thessaloniki Association. This history has also been included in the annual magazine commemorating the events this year.

Η Ένωση Θεσσαλονικέων στα πλαίσια της επετείου των 29 χρόνων αδελφοποίησης της Μελβούρνης με τη Θεσσαλονίκη διοργάνωσε στις 10 Νοεμβρίου 2013, ομιλία του κ.
